Anesia by Agency Panic

ALERT!!!***November 25th, 2022 Release Date!***

This is the second song from Agency Panic (from Ireland) that I've reviewed, and honestly I cannot get enough of from this band.  "Anesia" is a much different different track from anything they've made previously, but it keeps the dark, progressive rock feel all at the same time.  I'm honored to be able to prepare a song review before its release date to aid in it's release!

The song starts with what sounds like possibly carnival music slowing down to a complete stop.  Then in the emptiness comes lower-end synths pounding the rhythm with soundscapes over the top.  Voices enter fighting through the static of an old radio station that's just barely in reach bring up political conspiracy insinuations.  Sounds of pounding drums come in with smooth, dark vocals and detuned guitars.  The rhythm guitars are metal...reminding me of chain saws cutting through machinery, and the lead guitars are finding melody in the dark world of gigantic machines creating an intense fog of dust all over the underground factory by crushing bones and souls.

One thing I love about this track is the vocals are used as an instrument.  It doesn't sit on top of the mix.  I even hear screams filling in the intense landscape that drive the intensity to a maximum!

Nine Inch Nails enthusiasts should devour this gut wrenching, rhythmic pounding track.  This song would fit into an intense action-packed soundtrack for a movie...possibly a dark science fiction?  :)

What an intense lyric...showing deep frustration and despair...possibly concerning others trying to control lives.  The feeling of freedom and hope disappearing...being in a situation not self-created.  Self-proclaiming sole-decision-making.  What an incredible portrayal of such intense emotion!

 This Side of Anarchy is from Los Angeles, California USA, and "Wolves in the Graveyard" brings a high-energy mix between punk and metal in such a way I've never heard by anyone else. The song starts with fast-moving toms being joined by howling wolves, which couldn't fit this Halloween time of year better!  Soon, the bass, guitars and vocals join in simultaneously.  The verse gives me that eerie feeling of anxiety by all that's going on around me...the wolves pursuing...  "Watch out!  Wolves in the graveyard." The guitars are crisp and clear with distortion, sticking with the rhythm with palm mutes and open power chords.  The vocals are full of gravel, chanting and setting the atmosphere and telling the story while staying in key where appropriate. No One Home by Titanosaur

"No One Home" by Titanosaur releases on November 11th!  I am honored to be able to listen early and give you my reaction the best I can!  Titanosaur never fails to deliver a sound all his own with gigantic pounding drums, blasting distorted guitars, smooth bass lines and that signature grunge-tastic vocal that honestly makes me think of his band name just by hearing it.  Titanosaur is his own brand of metal. "No One Home" is a song where the complicated meters of the drums pounding away are really impressive.  The song actually starts with guitars rising in volume, then bass guitar rhythmically getting us moving.  When the drums kick in, I can feel the vibes of a stadium full of metal heads raising their horns, heads down, bobbing their long hair up and down or side to side...and fully in-the-zone.  The vocals come in and I start to picture the setting of a giant dinosaur with a guitar and microphone directing this crowd to action with fires all around the ...

Rabbit Hat Smash by Sisser

 I'll be completely honest, but when I started listening to "Rabbit Hat Smash" by Sisser (out of St. Louis, Missouri USA), I was incredibly intrigued immediately.  It is definitely not conventional, and I LOVE IT!  Let's see if I can describe this... It starts out with authentic live drums playing a 5/4 rock beat, which is hard to fully grasp until the bass and guitars come in.  The bass is has an incredible punchy thickness to it with 5 strings used in such a way that sort of surprised me that it got so low.  It's very active...not just sitting on the roots.  The guitars are the same...always active...not just chords...always filling in the atmosphere of my headphones.  It feels like the guitarist is just improvising his/her way through the song...sooo naturally.
