Myopic Dystopia by The Endorphins

The Endorphins are a rock band out of Boston, Massachusetts USA.  They label their own music as psych/Punk rock, but I would personally label grunge as the main genre, although I can understand their point of view!  This is mainly because the guitars are heavier than stereotypical punk, and the angst of the instruments and vocals have a different feel than punk.  The vocalist also gives off Kurt Cobain vibes...especially when he hits the chorus on top of the blasting distorted guitars.

"Myopic Dystopia" starts with atmospheric sounds on the keys, which are soon joined by two string chords on guitar...then joined by bass to accentuate the roots.  It really gives me vibes of extreme mystery...possibly looking for aliens among us in the night!  Such a cool way to get a song going!  After the vocals join, the drums come in.  All of the progression of the intro and verses keep leading up to what I'd consider my favorite part...the HOOK...when that extremely memorable chorus hits!  I feel like the whole song leads up to that climactic crushing moment when the blasting guitars and vocals crush the volume levels and break through the mystery with a jolt!

If I were to give constructive criticism, I would need to point out that the drums could be fattened up (especially low mids and lows) in the mix so they can have a bigger impact in the power of the song, which would also allow for them to be turned up in this mix.  Along with this though...the guitars sound really good, but the drums don't thump and impact them very much.  That being said, I do like the level of the drums in that it makes the guitar intensity so great!

This song has been added to the "Fight the Storm" playlist.
